Some drivers - usually the male half of the population - often tar all women drivers with the same brush: they can't park and they drive too slowly (which sometimes simply means within the speed limit). But, car insurance companies obviously recognise the merits of women drivers, because they offer them cheaper car insurance premiums.

But why should women pay less for their car insurance? Well, insurers haven't been charging the fairer sex lower premiums just out of the goodness of their hearts - they are rewarding them for having fewer accidents and therefore costing them less money in claims, eating into their profit margin less than their male customers.

"Women drivers." Most of us have probably heard that phrase grunted from a man in our lives, whether a friend, family member, coworker, or complete stranger. And, most women have probably been somewhat aggravated by the negative connotation. But, did you know that women's car insurance is generally cheaper than men's car insurance? It's true, and as sexist as it may sound, it's actually not. There are a plethora of statistical facts that tend to cause car insurance companies to offer lower rates to women drivers than to men drivers, and none of those reasons include the idea that women drivers can't drive!

Why do men usually pay more for car insurance? Do women really get that big of a discount? What is the deal? In a word: statistics. Young men tend to drive faster, not wear seatbelts, drive more, reckless driving, and possibly dui's. What can you do about it? Nothing. But I can help you understand why.

Typically, young male drivers ages 16 to 25 have to pay more for car insurance than for females of the same age, driving the same car, for the same coverage. It's statistics. I'm getting tired of that word already, but there is a true gender bias that makes men pay more money for insurance.

In most of the circumstances, males need to pay more for auto insurances than females. Have you ever wondered why this happens? Is it due to the reason that males normally drive when a couple commute by an automobile? Or could it be because males commute to work and women tends to stay at home in most of the situations (though the trend has changed now), and hence increasing their chances to be involved more in an accident?
